Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of the conventional video signal coder that has increased its circuit scale because number o DCT blocks in a macro block is changed and the hardware is to be designed to process both patterns in a system compressing a signal at two compression modes at a different coding rate each other bythe alteration of an input sampling and a structure of the macro block.
SOLUTION: The video signal coder of this invention is provided at least with a coding means that divides a luminance signal and color difference signals of a video signal into macro blocks in its unit each having sub macro blocks, uses any of compression modes at different coding rates each other, and codes data of the macro clock and is characterized in that the total number of the sub macro blocks in each macro block is the same even when any of the compression modes is used.
