Abstract:
PURPOSE: To increase the sharpness of colors in a low-luminance part and to reproduce an excellent image by a television receiver or high-vision receiver by putting the output of a means which detects a luminance level and the output of a means which detects the amplitudes of color difference signals together, and controlling the luminance level of a luminance signal with the composition output.
CONSTITUTION: An input luminance signal A is supplied to a luminance level control circuit 11 and a luminance level detecting circuit 12 to obtain a luminance level detection signal D. Further, an input color difference signal B is supplied to a color signal amplitude detecting circuit 13 to obtain a color difference amplitude detection signal E. Those two detection signals D and E are inputted to a composing circuit 14 and properly put together to obtain a luminance control signal F. Then the luminance level control circuit 11 is controlled with the control signal F to obtain a corrected output luminance signal C. The corrected output luminance signal C is a signal generated by correcting the luminance only a part of the input signal which is low in luminance level and large in color difference signal amplitude.
