Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a fine image by connecting a contour direction correcting circuit to an input terminal and supplying a video signal of which contour direction is corrected to the input terminal of a filter circuit. CONSTITUTION: When signals on the input terminals 637, 639, 641, 643, 645 of a function generator 635 are expressed by A to E, signals C to E respectively have logic '1' when the output value of an absolute difference value determining circuit 663 exceeds the output value of an absolute difference value determining circuit 665, when the output value of an absolute difference value determining circuit 667 exceeds the output value of the circuit 665 and when the output value of the circuit 667 exceeds the output value of the circuit 665. Thereby a non-linear filter circuit 71 receives video signals from pixels arranged on positions vertical to a contour direction in accordance with the contour direction. Consequently, improved noise suppression can be obtained by the circuit 71.
