CONSTITUTION: The high definition television signal of system like a MUSE system received with a BS tuner is supplied to a high picture quality generating television signal processing circuit for an EDTV or an IDTV, etc., and the time expansion is applied with a memory 44 for Y/C separation in a high picture quality generating television signal processing means 4, and a video signal with an aspect ratio 16:9 can be obtained. Thereby, not only software with the aspect ratio 16:9 can be observed similarly as MUSE, but, the time expansion can be performed with the frame memory 44 in the high picture quality generating television signal processing means 4 in a television receiver of on- going reference system, therefore, no MUSE signal processing means with another effect ls required.
