To provide a video signal recording and reproducing device that records/reproduces still image data consisting of video signals to/from a recording medium used usually by a personal computer.
The device 1 is provided with a video signal external input means 2 that receives externally a video signal, a video signal external output means 5 that outputs externally the video signal, a floppy disk drive 8 to which a recording medium 200 used usually by a personal computer 100 is loaded, a memory controller 9 that converts a video signal and still image data in an image data format used by the personal computer 100, a memory 10, an image data companding circuit 11, and a floppy disk controller 12 that records/ reproduces still image data to/from the recording medium 200.
