PURPOSE: To shorten an operation time and to miniaturize a machine.

CONSTITUTION: This device is provided with a disk 3 for compressing signal data and storing the compressed signal data, a detector 6 for reading the signal data of the disk 3, a memory 18 for tentatively storing the compressed signal data outputted from the detector 6 as they are, a control circuit 19 for dividing the output signals of the memory 18 into sound and video images at the time of reproduction and a sound decoder 21 for expanding a time base and amplifying the signals of the sound. When the amount of the signal data is the same, the number of the disks 3 can be reduced. The time for reading the signal data and storing them in the memory 18 is sufficiently shorter than the time for outputting and reproducing them from the memory 18. Thus, the consumption of mechanical structures can be reduced. Also, during reproduction time, the disk 3 can be selected, installed and detached and the signal data of the disk 3 can be read.
