PURPOSE: To know the number of times of screening of a video tape by recording the number of times of reproduction in the head part of a video tape, and thereafter, reproducing a program signal.

CONSTITUTION: A video signal from an input terminal 2 is supplied to a data signal gate circuit 3 and also is supplied to a synchronization separating circuit 4, a vertical synchronizing signal obtained in this synchronization separating circuit 4 is supplied to a data gate pulse signal generating circuit 5, and a data gate pulse signal synchronizing with the vertical synchronizing signal is obtained. The data gate pulse signal obtained in the output side of this generating circuit 5 is supplied to the data signal gate circuit 3 as a gate signal, and also a horizontal synchronizing signal obtained in the synchronization separating circuit 4 is supplied to a data clock signal oscillating circuit 6 as a synchronizing signal, so that this oscillating circuit 6 oscillates by synchronizing with the horizontal synchronizing signal. An output signal of the data signal gate circuit 3 is supplied to, for instance, a 16 bit shift register 7 in accordance with a data clock signal from the data clock signal oscillating circuit 6.
