PURPOSE: To transfer a call to the desired terminal of a call originating side terminal user by automatically responding to the call when that call is terminated to the video telephone system and guiding it to the call originating side user with image information or voices.

CONSTITUTION: When the telephone number of a call terminating side terminal is set by the call originating side user and a call originating operation is performed, B channel connection is conducted to a first call originating side terminal connected to a private exchange on the call terminating side. Next, telephone number list image data previously registered from the user to an image data storage part 16 at the call terminating side terminal are compressively encoded by a moving image CODEC part 9 and transmitted through a line interface 14 to the opposite side terminal in the mode of a BAS control part 13. At the call originating side terminal, the received compressively encoded data are decoded and a telephone number list image is displayed on a monitor 1. While observing the displayed number list, the call originating side terminal user inputs the indicated number and transfers the call to the desired terminal.
