Title:
VINYL POLYMER DISPERSION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3205628
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a new vinyl polymer dispersion, which is excellent in shear, electrolyte, heat and storage stabilities, by free radical polymerization of an olefinic unsaturated monomer in the presence of a hydrophobic cationic polyamidoamine.
CONSTITUTION: Free radical polymerization of an olefinic unsaturated monomer is carried out in an aqueous medium using a hydrophobic cationic polyamidoamine (containing, based on 100 g of the compound, 0.01 to 0.3 electric charge equivalent amount of cationic groups, 0.5 to 50 wt.% of hydrophobic groups and 0 to 3 wt.% basic nitrogen) as an emulsifier. The emulsifier is prepared by means of protonization by acids, or quaternalization by monoepoxides, after making the above basic polyamidoamine hydrophobic by monocarboxylic acids.
