To provide a virtual image type vehicle sign display device which can be made compact and can form a virtual image with less distortion at a predetermined position.
The virtual image type vehicle sign display device is constituted of a device main body 9 and a sign plate 2. In the device main body 9, a light source 12 is attached near one end surface side of a square cylindrical case 11 having the other one end surface side as an opening 10 while turning the irradiation direction inside the case. A collimation lens 14 and a beam splitter 3 are arranged between a reflection mirror 13 arranged in the light source 12 at a predetermined angle and the opening 10, and a compensation lens 4 and a transparent plate 15 which is rotatable and movable so as to tilt are arranged above the beam splitter 3. The sign plate 2 has an actual image 7 comprised of retroreflection material and arranged so as to be positioned in front of the opening 10 of the device main body 9.
