To provide a viscoelastic damper having improved vibration damping effects by developing expected damping performance in a wide range from small deformation to great deformation.
The viscoelastic damper 1 comprises first viscoelastic materials 21 and second viscoelastic materials 22 different in thickness arranged side by side at spaces S between each of external steel plates 11A, 11B and an intermediate steel plate 12. The first and second viscoelastic materials 21, 22 are formed of single members having the same viscoelastic property. The first viscoelastic materials 21 each having a smaller thickness are adapted to vibration during small deformation and the second viscoelastic materials 22 each having a greater thickness is adapted to vibration during great deformation, thus coping with the deformation in a wide range from small deformation to great deformation.
