Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a viscosity index improver which is further excellent in viscosity index improvement effect and can further suppress oxidation of a base oil.SOLUTION: A viscosity index improver contains a copolymer which has at least one section (A) obtained by polymerizing a monomer (a) containing vinylpyrrolidone and one section (B) obtained by polymerizing a monomer (b) containing an ethylenic unsaturated monomer other than vinylpyrrolidone and is formed by a living radical polymerization method which comprises a step of forming the section (A) and a step of forming the section (B).SELECTED DRAWING: None
