Abstract:
To provide a viscosity index improver having excellent shear stability and excellent effects for improving the viscosity index, and to provide a lubricant oil composition containing the viscosity index improver.
The viscosity index improver comprises a vinyl polymer (A) obtained by using a vinyl monomer (a0) represented by general formula (1) (wherein, R1 and R2 are the same or different and each a 1-32C alkyl group; and n is an integer of 1-5) as an essential constituent monomer.
