Abstract:
To provide a viscosity index improver excellent in low-temperature viscosity for a fluid for traction drive and of 8.2-10.0 solubility parameter.
This viscosity index improver for a fluid for traction drive comprises a vinyl polymer as the essential component, wherein the vinyl polymer has >9.5 but ≤11.0 solubility parameter, 1.0-6.0 HLB number, 5,000-500,000 weight-average molecular weight and ≤-10°C crystallization onset temperature measured by a differential scanning calorimeter.
