Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method which can produce a polymer having a high viscosity index and excellent shear stability and also showing sufficient solubility in lubricant base oil with high yields, and a lubricant composition using a viscosity index improver comprising the polymer.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a viscosity index improver comprising a polymer having (a) a unit derived from a (meth) acrylic amide monomer ((a) component), and (b) a unit derived from a maleimide monomer ((b) component) as essential units, and a lubricant composition comprising a lubricant and the viscosity index improver.SELECTED DRAWING: None
