Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a viscous coupling capable of promoting a function to introduce viscous fluid between outer and inner plates and suppressing the fluctuation of transmission torque due to the change of a total rotation speed.
SOLUTION: A viscous coupling comprises a rotatable casing; a hub rotatably arranged at the internal part of the casing; a viscous fluid chamber formed between the casing and a hub and filled with viscous fluid; a disc-like outer plate 14 arranged in the viscous fluid chamber and attached to the casing; and a disc-like inner plate arranged in the viscous fluid chamber and attached to the hub. In the viscous coupling wherein a slit 19 opened to the inner peripheral end of the inner plate 14 and a hole 21 extending through in the direction of the thickness of the outer plate 14 are formed in the outer plate 14, the holes 21 are formed closer to the outer peripheral side than the slits 19.
