To provide a visual inspection apparatus requiring no complicated processing and capable of precisely detecting foreign matters.
The visual inspection apparatus K1 is constituted so that the presence of foreign matter is inspected after tablets 5 are charged in the respective pocket parts 2 formed on a PTP sheet 10. The pocket parts 2a and non-pocket parts 2b of the PTP sheet 10 are illuminated with an illumination means 11 and reflected light is detected by a CCD (charge coupled device) camera 12 while the image data obtained from the reflected light is processed by an image processor 13. A CPU (central processing unit) 20 performs not only the setting of the illumination condition of the pocket parts 2a (S1) and image capture processing (S2) in order to inspect foreign matter in the pocket parts 2a but also the setting of the illumination condition of the non-pocket parts 2b (S5) and image capture processing (S6) in order to inspect foreign matters of the non-pocket parts 2b. Further, the CPU 20 performs binarization processing and foreign matter detecting processing for the pocket parts 2a (S3 and S4) and the binarization processing and foreign matter detecting processing for the non-pocket parts (S7 and S8).
