To provide a visual inspection method and a visual inspection device for a color filter to determine whether foreign mater is damaging or not with the same accuracy as that is available in determination on whether foreign mater is damaging or not in colored pixels of high reflectivity without especially intensifying inspection light projected to the colored pixels of low reflectivity as to visual inspection on a color filter by means of vertical epi-illumination.
Reflection light Re1 from the front surface of the color filter, and reflection light Re1' passing through the color filter and vertically reflected by a light reflector on the rear surface side of the color filter, are used as reflection light Re3 entering an inspection camera. On the rear surface side of the color filter, the light reflector 16 is provided for vertically reflecting light coming from a light source and passing through the color filter from the front surface of the color filter.
