Abstract:
To obtain a novel vitamin E derivative which has excellent antioxidative effect and is useful as a therapeutic agent for a variety of diseases caused by activated oxygen, for example, carcinogenesis, cataract and isthemic cardiopathy.
This derivative is a vitamin E derivative of formula I, for example, a vitamin E derivative of formula I, which is obtained by reaction of trimethylhydroquinone with methyl vinyl ketone, acetylation of the product, chroman acetal, then giving a curcumin derivative via an acetoxy-hemiacetal, a diester, 2-carboxyl derivative and acid chloride derivative. In addition to the compound of formula I, the derivatives of formulas II and III also can be employed.
