When the item in the menu is indicated, or the indication of the item is released, a sound effect setting part 111 sets the tone, scale and effect of a sound effect based on the position of the item in the menu, and sets the strength of the sound effect based on the taste of the user corresponding to the item. A sound effect output control part 112 makes a speaker output the sound effect with the set tone, scale, effect and strength. This invention may be applied to a DTV(Digital Television).
