To provide a speech recognition device which facilitates operations such as, for example, destination setting in a navigation system, shortens speech recognition processing time and lowers probability of erroneous recognition and the navigation system on which the speech recognition device is mounted.
In the speech recognition device provided with a map display function which displays a map on a display 7 and a speech recognition processing function which performs processing according to input speech recognition, it is equipped with a position designation means which designates an optional position of the map displayed on the display 7, a recognition dictionary which stores comparison data for performing speech recognition by comparing with the inputted speech, a dictionary selection means which selects the comparison data from the recognition dictionary according to the position designated by the position designation means and narrows down processing object data to which speech recognition processing is performed and a recognition processing means which compares the inputted speech with the processing object data selected by the dictionary selection means and outputs a recognition result.
