When a voice recognition telephone book activation request is present from a telephone set 11, an application processor 30 transfers the group name data of the abbreviated dialing data divided into plural groups from an application memory 40 to a voice recognition device 50, displays them at the display part of the telephone set 11 and urges a user to sound a group name. Sounded contents are compared with the group name data in the voice recognition device 50, and when they match, the application processor 30 displays the abbreviated dialing data of the selected group to the telephone set 11 and urges the user to sound. Thus, this electronic exchange 10 capable of recognizing the voice without decelerating the recognition speed even when the number of the abbreviated dialing data becomes large is obtained.
