Abstract:
PURPOSE: To supply a received voice with high articulation by easily controlling the received sound volume.
CONSTITUTION: A VSELP encoder 3 encodes a voice signal subject to high efficiency coding through digital signal processing. A noise block detection circuit 4 uses an analysis parameter obtained by the VSELP encoder 3 to detect a background noise block. Since a noise level detection circuit 5 detects a noise level of a noise block detected by the noise block detection circuit 4, the circuit 5 detects a background noise level with high reliability and a microcomputer 6 controls the received sound volume in response to the background noise level detected by the noise level detection circuit 5.
