Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an oscillator which performs frequency tuning and generates more output phases, even without interpolation by providing at least three mixer cells separately and symmetrically connecting one mixer cell to the other two mixer cells, connecting a 1st input to the other two 1st outputs, and connecting a 2nd input to the other two 2nd delay outputs.
SOLUTION: Each stage 146 includes a double mixer cell 72 that has an output 139a. Also, an output of the cell 72 is connected to a delay cell 74. The cell 74 generates a 2nd output 139b, which is delayed with respect to the output 139a by the delay of the cell 74. Each cell 72 has four inputs X, Y, XD and YD. Also, each cell 72 has a tuning input 73. Tuning inputs of four double mixer cells 72 are connected to a frequency-tuning input 76. The input 76 adjusts an operation frequency of a tunable interleaved ring oscillator 90.
