To provide a voltage controlled oscillator in which temperature characteristics are corrected and a frequency variable range is reduced, a clock converter provided with the voltage controlled oscillator and an electronic appliance using the clock converter.
By providing a tank circuit 16 composed of an LC resonance circuit on the output part of a SAW resonator 15 constituting a voltage controlled SAW oscillator 4 and canceling the phase change of the resonance signals of the SAW resonator 15 by utilizing the temperature characteristics of the tank circuit element, the frequency deviation / temperature characteristics of the SAW resonator 15 are corrected. Thus, without increasing the circuit scale of the voltage controlled SAW oscillator 4, the frequency deviation / temperature characteristics of the almost same level as a conventional AT crystal vibrator is obtained. Also, the clock signals with less jitters compared to the AT crystal vibrator are generated. Further, a frequency variable range is easily compensated even when a power supply voltage is turned to a low voltage and the frequency deviation of the clock signals is highly accurately maintained.
