A voltage measuring apparatus for measuring voltages of the battery cells of a battery cell unit constituted of a plurality of serially connected battery cells includes: a capacitor provided for every battery cell group constituted of continuous battery cells, connected in parallel to battery cells to be measured from among the battery cell group, and charged; a switch circuit for changing over the connection between the capacitor and the battery cells; and a voltage measuring means charged by the battery cells to be measured for measuring an voltage of the capacitor separated from the battery cells. The capacitance of a capacitor corresponding to a battery cell group having a relatively large potential difference from the neutral potential of the battery cell unit is made larger than the capacitance of a capacitor corresponding to a battery cell group having a relatively small potential difference.
