PURPOSE: To record and reproduce the volume multiple holography at a high speed without adjusting an optical system and to improve the accuracy of the optical axis by arraying many laser light sources.
CONSTITUTION: The luminous flux from a laser group 11 consisting of many laser light sources is split by optical systems 13 and 15 into plural pieces of luminous flux, which are guided to a storage element 12 to interfere with each other. At this time, part of luminous flux emitted at a different position of the laser group 11 is scattered by mutually different storage patterns 16 and then made incident on different positions of the storage element 12, so that the light is recorded as interference fringes of other parts. Namely, the light sources in the laser group are changed without the rotary movement of the storage element 12 nor the mechanical movement of the optical system, thereby obtaining the volume holography. In this case, a surface light emission laser diode array is used preferably as the laser group 11 and this laser diode array is formed by stacking light emission joint parts on, for example, a GaAlAs substrate and then machining the light emission joint parts into a columnar set by etching.
