Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently treat jellyfish by bringing ozonous water or ozonous gas into contact with the jellyfish entered in a cooling water intake of a power station, etc., to reduce the volume of the jellyfish, and lower COD to prevent the emission of a bad smell.
CONSTITUTION: By such a method that ozonous water is showered upon unloaded jellyfish or that jellyfish is impregnated into ozonous water, ozone is brought into contact with the surface of jellyfish, hydrophobic protein of the film of jellyfish is broken with ozone and is changed in hydrophile, and inside water is easily vapored. If necessary, before ozone is contated therewith, a surface active agent or enzyme is contacted with jellyfish, permeability of ozone to the surface of jellyfish is increased, and dehydration efficiency can be increased. In addition, ozone is added in accordance with condition of liquid, so that COD is lowered during the drainage to prevent a bad smell. Jellyfish reduced in volume is utilized as fodder and fertilizer. According to the constitution, the treatment of jellyfish can be efficiently made.
