Abstract:

To provide a VPN (Virtual Private Network) connection service suitable for real-time multimedia communication using an inexpensive Internet line.

A user agent 22 is included in a terminal device which is connected directly to a network 14. A server device 12 forms a center VPN connection communication path 32 between the server device 12 and the terminal device including the user agent 22 and maintains it continuously. The terminal device including the user agent 22 transmits/receives information required for starting communication with P2P (Peer to Peer) connection through the center VPN connection communication path 32. Thereby, a P2P-VPN connection communication path 34 is formed between the terminal devices. Not only the terminal device including the user agent 22 but the terminal devices under control of router 16 (1), 16 (2) use the P2P-VPN connection communication path.
