Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the title accelerator which is highly safe and sanitary and has a capacity of accelerating vulcanization equivalent to that of the conventional accelerators by using a specified thiuram compound. CONSTITUTION:The title accelerator comprises a thiuram compound of the formula. When tested according to the microbial mutagenicity test of Society for Checking Chemicals, Juridical Foundation, its mutagenicity is negative, and it is highly safe and sanitary. This thiuram compound has a capacity of accelerating vulcanization equivalent to that of a thiuram vulcanization accelerator such as tetramethylthiuram disulfide. Thiuram vulcanization accelerators such as tetramethylthiuram disulfide, tetramethyl-thiuram monosulfide and tetraethylthiuram disulfide can be used as vulcanization accelerators for rubbers such as a natural rubber, a styrene/butadiene rubber and a butadiene rubber.
