This walking assist 10 is formed by attaching a walking support part 11 to a self-movable mobile device 12 and assists the walking action when a walker walks by moving the walking support part by the mobile device. The walking assist is provided with a mode selection part 36 changing a mode between a walk assistance mode and an independent action mode, an ambient information collecting part 41 acquiring surrounding image information and sound information as ambient information, and a communication part 14 having a transmission function for transmitting the information. When the independent action mode is selected, this assist transmits the ambient information acquired by the ambient information collection part 41 to allow a person on watch to monitor from a separate position without going the round.
