To regulate a gearshift lever to be shifted to its high-speed gearshift range.
This walking type working machine is equipped with a self-propelled vehicle body and a working apparatus connected to the vehicle body. The vehicle body is mounted with a base end portion of a steering handle. The steering handle can easily change the position to either of the following sides: one for a normal position where a grip portion formed at a tip portion is arranged above the working apparatus, and the other for a reverse position where the grip position is inverted by almost 180 degrees from the normal position around a vertical axis centering around the base end portion. In this type working machine, the vehicle body is provided with a gearshift lever for enabling a gearshift operation through a gearshift guide, and it is also provided with a gearshift regulator enabling an easy position change between a shift regulating position and a shift non-regulating position of the gearshift lever, where the gearshift regulator regulates the gearshift lever to be shifted to its high-speed gearshift positions through the gearshift guide. Thus the vehicle body interlocks the two movements of the position change: one for the position change between the shift regulating position and the shift non-regulating position of the gearshift regulator, and the other for the position change between the normal position and the reverse position of the steering handle.
