In a warp control method for a metal strip, by controlling rotational speeds of bridle rolls 13A, 13B respectively disposed on an entrance side and an exit side of a line such that the metal strip S is stretched, elongation percentage control and tension control are performed, and intermesh by a leveler part 10 is controlled. When stopping the carriage of the metal strip S, the intermesh by the leveler part 10 is released when a carriage speed has become less than a prescribed operation lower limit speed. When carrying the stopped metal strip S again, the tension control to previously impart tension to the metal strip S before a carriage start is performed, and control to return the intermesh by the leveler part 10 to the prescribed intermesh is performed.
