PURPOSE: To supply rinse water to both the inside and outside of an inner basket in which the laundry is placed to perform an effective rinse of laundry by a method wherein water is gently supplied toward the periphery of the inner basket from a first tap near the periphery, and water is also supplied into the inner basket from a second tap.

CONSTITUTION: Washing is carried out in such a manner that an outer drum is filled with water, and an inner basket 33 in which the laundry is put is rotated around the horizontal axial line X-X or a tilted axial line. And dewatering of the laundry is performed in such a way that the inner basket in which washed laundry is held is spun around the vertical axial line Y-Y at a high speed. In rinse operation, water is gently supplied toward the periphery of the inner basket 33 from a first tap 84a near the periphery to wash away the foam adhered on the periphery of the inner basket 33, and at the same time water is supplied into the inner basket 33 from a second tap 85a to wash away the detergent adhered on the laundry, so that the rinse water in the outer drum is continuously replaced with fresh water while rinsing is carried out.
