PURPOSE: To provide a washing and disinfecting agent for contact lenses capable of easily, effectively and simultaneously washing and disinfecting the contact lenses and to provide a method for washing and disinfecting the contact lenses with which a washing treatment and disinfecting treatment are simultaneously executed in a short time by using such washing and disinfecting agent.

CONSTITUTION: This washing and disinfecting agent for contact lenses is prepd. by incorporating an effective amt. of protease, 60 to 80w/v% propylene glycol, 10 to 35w/v% glycerol and water and specifying the total of the content of the propylene glycol and the glycerol to 70 to 95w/v%. Such washing and disinfecting of the contact lenses are simultaneously executed by bringing the contact lenses into contact with such washing and disinfecting agent for the contact lenses in a short period of time of within five minutes.
