To cancel the loss of operating time when recovering power of a coin type washing and drying machine.
Each time data are updated in the 2nd and 3rd areas of a RAM for storing important data such as the operation management data of a washing process, a check sum is calculated in each area and stored in the prescribed area. At the time of power failure, the data in the RAM are held by a backup power source. When power is recovered after the generation of power failure, the check sum is calculated again from the data in each area of the RAM, and the presence/absence of any error in the data is discriminated. When both the checked results of the 2nd and 3rd areas are normal, based on the operation management data, the initial state of washing process under execution just before the power failure is recovered (S6) and when a washing start key is operated, the operation is started. When any checked result in the 2nd or 3rd area is abnormal, an initial business state is recovered and the insertion of the next coin is waited (S9).
