To provide a washing and drying method and a washing and drying apparatus which reduce a change in view of hung laundry by reciprocatingly rotating and swinging the laundry about the vertical axis and minimize the width of displacement caused by a movement of a laundry pole in the washing and drying apparatus used for drying the laundry hung in a space.

The washing and drying apparatus includes the laundry pole 3 having a circular cross-section of a shaft, and action means for rotating the laundry pole 3. A hanger 4 on which the laundry is hung is suspended from the laundry pole 3, the surface of the laundry pole 3 incudes an induction means for changing the horizontal angle of the hanger 4 with the rotation of the laundry pole 3, and the laundry is made to visually slowly act, so that the change in view of the dried laundry is reduced.
