To provide a washing machine in which a swing width of an outer tub, when a safety switch is operated at the time of dehydration, is equalized regardless of the amount of laundry and the safety switch is easily operated without occurring abnormal vibrations.

The washing machine is provided with a housing 2 having a clothes feeding port, a lid 3 for opening and closing the clothes feeding port, the outer tub 4 provided inside the housing 2, a washing/dehydrating tub 5 rotatably provided inside the outer tub 4, the safety switch 10 provided inside the housing 2 and a safety lever 11 pivoted inside the housing 2 for operating the safety switch 10. The safety lever 11 is arranged so as to be abutted to the outer tub 4 when the outer tub 4 is swung at the time of the dehydration and a part apart from a pivoted position is close to the outer tub 4.
