To provide a washing machine capable of uniformly heating the whole of laundry by stepwise heating when heating the laundry, executing a heating control corresponding to the external state change and rightly handling a water temperature error when the water temperature is improper.

After heating the laundry stored in a drum 4 by steam at a temperature lower than a set temperature by 10°C, this washing machine controls to heat it at the set temperature for one minute. The measurement of the heating time at the set temperature is started when the temperature of the drum 4 reaches the set temperature. An error temperature is set based on the highest set value out of the set water temperatures set for respective operation processes to be executed in the respective operation courses.
