To provide a washing machine capable of detecting a cloth state in a washing tub more accurately.

The washing machine is composed so as to carry out vector control in regard to torque of a motor 24 by a DSP 45 and PI control in regard to a rotational speed of the motor 24. A control microcomputer 46 compares rotational frequency fluctuation during a rotary movement in a normal direction of the motor in washing or rinsing operation with rotational frequency fluctuation during a next rotary movement in the normal direction, and it determines whether or not there is cloth entanglement in a rotary tub on the basis of whether or not a difference between the rotational frequency fluctuations is ≥5.0 rpm.
