To provide a washing method of a filter medium aiming at reduction of washing time, amount of washing water and a detergent, requiring no new facility investment, surely washing the filter medium having various contaminations like oil or suspended matter generated thereon, using an existing facility in a short time and efficiently.
In this washing method of a filter medium in a filter filtering by passing water through a filtering layer formed by filling the filter medium in a filtering tank, gas and a diluted detergent solution obtained by diluting 0.1-10L of the detergent for 1m3 of gas are simultaneously introduced to a lower part of the filtering layer; the gas and diluted detergent solution are brought into contact with the filter medium; introduction of the gas and diluted detergent solution is stopped; and water is introduced from the lower part of the filtering layer for back washing to wash the filter medium.
