The sand filtering device 1 is provided with a container 2 which is opened upwardly, a catchment material 3 which is formed of a cylindrical woven cloth having self-shaping property in which fibers having bending resilience are used for at least a part of weft and is accommodated in the container 2, a drain pipe 4 which is connected to the material 3 and is extended outside of the container 2, and the sand layer 5 filling an upper side of the material 3 the container 2.
