PURPOSE: To make a separator for blood plasma and blood plasma components reusable by decomposing the blood components sticking on the separator with sodium hypochlorite then washing the separator with an ascorbic acid or the alkali metal salt thereof.
CONSTITUTION: The blood components sticking on a separator for blood plasma and blood plasma components using a polymer membrane or polymer hollow yarn are treated with a soln. of sodium hypochlorite having about 100W3,000ppm concn. of available chlorine to decompose away the sticking components, whereafter the stuck sodium hypochlorite is decomposed away with ascorbic acid or its salt or an aq. mixed soln. of both thereof. The danger of infection, etc. by the sticking components is thus eliminated and the damage on a living body by the sodium hypochlorite is obviated, whereby the reuse of ordinary throw-away membranes, hollow yarn, etc. is made possible. If the concn. of the sodium hypochlorite is kept in a suitable range, the deterioration in the strength of the membrane, etc. is prevented.
