PURPOSE: To surely and sufficiently decompose N2O in waste gas by setting a zeolite-based catalyst between electrodes of an anode and a cathode, applying voltage between both electrodes to generate plasma, and passing the N2O- containing waste gas through the plasma.
CONSTITUTION: An anode and a cathode 7, 7 are set opposite each other in the inside of a reactor 4 and when voltage is applied between the electrodes 7, 7 from an electric power source 5, plasma is generated between the electrodes 7, 7. The temperature of the electrodes 7, 7 as well as the surface temperature of a zeolite-based catalyst set between the electrodes 7, 7 rise due to the plasma. In the case that N2O-containing waste gas is led to pass the plasma in this state from a waste gas flowing route 1, the N2O contained in the waste gas is decomposed into N2 and O2 and the waste gas is cleaned. If at least one of H2 and CO as a reducing agent is added to the waste gas from a reducing agent flowing route 2, decomposition of N2O in the waste gas is further accelerated.
