PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of an electrical dust precipitator by taking out part of a waste gas and controlling the same to a prescribed temp. then converting SO2 to SO3 and mixing the SO3-contg. gas as a humidity control agent with the supply waste gas to the electrical dust precipitator.
CONSTITUTION: Part of a combustion gas exhausted from a boiler 1 is branched from a main flow channel 2 and is conducted through a flow channel 3 to a gas heater 4. The detection signal of a thermometer 11 provided to the outlet pipeline of the heater 4 is transmitted to a control device 12, where the output of the heater 4 is so controlled as to attain the prescribed temp. The waste gas having been heated to the prescribed temp. by the heater 4 is introduced into an oxidation catalyst reaction tower 5, where the contained SO2 is oxidized to SO3. The outlet gas in a reaction tower 5 is again returned to the main pipeline 2, through which it is conducted to an air preheater 6, where it is heat exchanged, and at the same time SO3 is adsorbed on the dust, whereby the specific electrical resistance of the dust is decreased. Thence, the waste gas is introduced into an electrical dust precipitator 7, after which it is released from a chimney 8.
