To provide a waste paper treatment method capable of efficiently converting waste paper into suger and recovering the sugar without leaking secret information described on the waste paper.

This waste paper treatment method has a contact process bringing enzyme-containing liquid into contact with waste paper charged into a storing chamber, and sugar is recovered during the reaction of the waste paper with enzyme or after the completion of the reaction, by carrying the storing chamber to a sugar recovering facility, or without carrying it. In the contact process, at least one contact device selected among a sprayer, a slit or a coating roll is preferably used.
