Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-base coating compsn. which can give a coating film excellent in weatherability and exhibits a good stability during preparation and storage.
SOLUTION: This compsn. manily comprises a silanolated vinyl copolymer emulsion which is obtd. by subjecting a polymerizable vinyl monomer and a silanolated (meth)acrylsiloxane represented by the formula [wherein R1 is H or methyl; R2 is a 1-8C monovalent org. group; R3 to R5 are each a 1-8C monovalent org. group or a siloxy group represented by-OSiR6R7R8 (wherein R6 to R8 are each a 1-8C monovalent org. group); (n) is an integer of 1-12; and (a) is 0 or 1 ]to emulsion polymn. in the presence of a reactive surfactant and a polymn. intiator in a water-base medium.
