PURPOSE: To obtain a water-base wax dispersion which contains particles with sizes of 1μm or lower, is suitable for compounding into a water-base coating compsn. such as a water-base ink or a water-base coating material, and imparts excellent resistance to dirt deposition, shipperiness, water repellency, etc., to a coating film without causing film defects such as seeding or cissing.
CONSTITUTION: This water-base wax dispersion is obtd. by polymerizing an α,β-unsatd. monomer mixture essentially contg. an α,β-unsatd. carboxylic acid and an α,β-unsatd. silicone compd. by using an org. peroxide as the polymn. initiator in the presence of a wax, neutralizing a part or all of the carboxyl groups derived from the acid with a basic substance, and dispersing the resultant product. This coating compsn. contains 0.01wt.% (in terms of solid) or higher water-base wax dispersion.
