To obtain the subject magenta-colored ink composition highly safe to both the environment and humans, having hue and color clearness suitable for affording a wide range of formula colors, capable of giving printed matters of high light resistance and water fastness with high color value.
This ink composition contains, as color component, a compound (salt) of formula I [D is a water-soluble color residue; X is a sulfo group or carboxy; Y is a (substituted) amino, (substituted) hydroxy or chlorine atom]. It is recommended that the above color component is obtained, for example, by subjecting the corresponding diazo component and a coupling component to ordinary diazotization and alkali coupling process to form a color component which, in turn, is subjected to primary reaction with a cyanuric acid halide under cooling in a weakly acidic condition followed by secondary reaction of the reaction product with a diaminobenzene at room to higher temperatures in an approximately neutral condition.
