To provide a water cleaning apparatus capable of utilizing the photocatalytic reaction of a photocatalyst in the cleaning of water, capable of being formed into a compact structure adaptable to a place shaded from sunshine or the like, a narrow place or the like, reduced in power consumption and emitting a chromatic color.
The water cleaning apparatus supports a photocatalyst 2 comprising a thin titanium dioxide film and equipped with a substrate 1 having a photocatalytic reaction surface and a light emitting diode 3 arranged so as to irradiate the photocatalyst 2 and mainly emitting predetermined visible light and ultraviolet rays with a wavelength of 360-400 nm. Since the light emitting diode 3 is used as an ultraviolet source for activating the photocatalyst 2, the apparatus can be formed compactly as a whole. This apparatus is made concrete as as a drinking water cleaner.
